  • Must be in good standing with State Medical Boards as well as National and State dermatology organizations

  • Must possess an unrestricted licensed to practice in their state

  • Must be willing to schedule referred patients within one week of receiving the CMS Summary Case Report.

Benefits of becoming a Referral Site

  • A Trustworthy Screening Team: CheckMySpot screeners are board-certified dermatologists in good standing and have years of experience in recognizing the appearance of benign lesions and skin cancers. You can be assured that each referral has presented features likely requiring a diagnostic procedure and/or treatment.

  • Improve patient access to qualified dermatology care

    • CheckMySpot’s priority is to refer patient users with a yellow or red Case Summary Report disposition to their existing dermatologist indicated on their initial record.

    • In the event a patient does not have a dermatologist on record, CheckMySpot will refer the patient to a referral site in the closest proximity to the patient’s residence.

    • CheckMySpot does not receive compensation in any form for referrals.

    • CheckMySpot will not refer patient users to a referral site location where The CheckMySpot provider that rendered the disposition on the Case Summary Report is employed. (No “self–referrals”)

  • Improve practice efficiency by:

    • Eliminating office visits for lesions that do not possess worrisome features for a skin cancer

    • Reduce wait time for patients that likely require diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures (eg- biopsies and excision/reconstructions)

  • Receive Precise Referral Information: Receive a detailed Case Summary Report for EVERY referred case that clearly illustrates the lesion appearance, location and disposition by the certified CheckMySpot provider.

  • Provide your existing patients a valuable screening service: CheckMySpot refers patient users to their existing dermatologist on record. You can provide your patients with a screening service at no overhead cost or liability to you.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote early detection of skin cancers by partnering advanced cell phone technology with highly qualified dermatology providers. CheckMySpot provides an accurate and convenient asynchronous teledermatology screening service that informs users whether a skin spot is benign at that point in time, or whether it appears worrisome and needs to be evaluated in person. If a clinic visit is warranted, our service facilitates an expedited referral to the user’s dermatologist or one nearby. The CheckMySpot website has a Resource page that will educate users on how to identify worrisome skin spots on themselves and others, and stresses the importance of monitoring changes in spots over time. CheckMySpot will not only empower patient users to be more aware of skin spots; it will also remove barriers to access of care by expediting referrals. All aspects of the CheckMySpot mission support our main goal: the early detection of skin cancer.

The CheckMySpot service is committed to full adherence to the standards of teledermatology set forth by the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Telemedicine Association. CheckMySpot fully supports the premise that there is no substitute for an “in person” clinic exam as well as the American Academy of Dermatology’s recommendation that all persons receive an annual “in person” complete skin exam. Accurate and expedited screening of skin lesions is our top priority because we recognize that early detection matters to improve patient outcomes and save lives.
